It was a joyous event shared with family, friends and suppliers. We are thankful to everyone who made that day possible and special. Thank you all for sharing with us that special day.

A Perfect Fit!

Today, 17 days before our wedding, I did two errands...

First, I went to Intramuros Administration to submit the list of lights and sounds equipment and to pick-up our permit.  I have already settled our account with them last thursday, but they did not give me the permit yet at that time because according to them the lights and sounds equipments listed will exceed 50 amperes, which is the only amount of electricity that they will provide for our function.  Today, I submitted to them a new list of the Lights and Sounds equipment that I got from Elmer, and thank God they gave me already our permit!

After Intramuros, I went to do my second errand, which was actually the hightlight of my day... I went to Ms. Veluz's Office to pick-up my wedding shoes!  On my way to her place I was very excited to see the shoes and bag they made for me.  The shoes and bag were gifts from Ms. V's parents who are family friends of Jeric's parents.  Although they're gifts, Ms. V., her staff and assistants did not treat me differently from their paying clients, even when they took my measurements last August. I was really grateful to them.  When I saw my shoes, it really made me so happy! It was as simple as I wanted it to be. It fitted perfectly and was so comfortable to wear.  The bag was not yet finished though, but that's alright with me since I know how busy they are with the volume of their clients during this season.  Besides, the shoes already made my day so I really wouldn't mind waiting a little longer for the bag.  I'm already so excited to wear the shoes! 17 days to go and I will be able to wear them all day long! =)

Exactly 1 month before the big day...

Today is exactly one month before our big day... while I am still grieving for the demise of my friend Brenda, I do realize that I must move on with the preps and not let his death set me back... I'm sure he would have wanted to see me glowing on my day although he wont be the one who will style me...

Anyway, to push aside the gloominess I am feeling right now, here's an update of my recent accomplishments.

Hair and Make-up - Since I'm back to square one with this one, I've set a trial make-up session with Aiko of Salon De Mayo.  He was kind and also really accommodating just like brenda... I think he did well with our trial session all who saw the outcome complimented me.  I think I'm on 75% of getting him already. I'll just have to think about it more.

Invites - my DIY invites are almost finished.  Though I have already distributed half of it to Jeric's side, the other half, for my side, are still being completed and distributed at this moment.  I hope to finish it before this week ends so I can start confirming RSVPs.

Tent - I have already booked our clear tents from New Tent World services. I was relieved to know that it was not as expensive as was previously quoted to me thru email. They also said that if we're not able to use it at all, we will only be charge for 60% of the total rental price. Not a bad deal.

Father's suit - well, despite my insistence to get a new suit, Jeric's father doesn't want to get a new suit, so he will be renting a suit for himself to on our wedding day.  As for my dad, I insisted that he get a new suit and he agreed.  We were supposed to buy him a ready-made suit but when I brought him to Robinson's to look for suits, he did not like the fit of a ready-made suit, so we decided to just have one tailored for him.  His suit was tailored at Ilaya Divisoria by Sherly's Bridal Shop.  I got his suit yesterday and would bring it to my dad on the weekend.  I really hope it fits him perfectly so we wont return to Divi anymore.

Groom's Tux - Jeric wanted a Tuxedo style suit. Considering his body built, we really have to get it custom made for him.  plus, of course, he's the groom, he has every right too, to be particular with his attire and all. So anyway, knowing that Jeric hates going to divi, the Divi tailor was really out of the question, so I decided that for his convenience, we'll have his tux custom made at Onesimus instead. again, it is his wedding too and he also deserves to wear the best that we can afford.  Anyway, we got Jeric's suit yesterday and I'm happy that he loves his suit! I can't wait to see him waiting for me at the end of the isle.

Programs - First week of December, I had a meeting with my emcee Missy for brainstorming regarding our wedding reception program.  She was so helpful and and she did understand the requirements for the program on our reception.  We will have our final meeting on the first week of January when all are settled and fixed already.

OTD - I was really thankful that I was blessed with a lot of good friends.  My Ateneo Human Right Center friend Atty. Shyanne Juan Monera and my Weddings at Work friend Liberty Palomo-Quiambao both agreed to be my OTD. Of course with the help of my One-Pact brothers and sisters and my W@W sisters.  I am confident that they will make our wedding really special.  Thanks to all of them in advance!

Grieving for the lost of my Friend and HMUA Brenda...

Brenda Belgica, my long time HMUA who have become my friend thru the years, just passed away last sunday morning, December 12, 2011.  She's been doing my hair and make-up for quite a number of years now... most of it were for special milestones in my life...  I really couldn't believe that he's gone now... when Jeric and I decided to get married, and even before we booked our major suppliers, I knew that I would want Brenda to do my hair and make-up for my wedding.  I told him that he will do my hair and make-up on the wedding at least a year before our wedding day, because I wanted no one but him. He already knows my face very well and could always make me feel and look beautiful in front of discriminating eyes... I gifted his service 3 times, to 3 of my friends who got married... that's how confident I was with his work.  He was truly one of the best in his field, and yet he remained humble and ever so accommodating to his clients and friends.  I will truly miss him...

Last night, got an FB message from Cris saying that our prenup pics are already posted on their site.  I  was able to check it just this morning.  It already made my day! Thank you Cris and Mige for making us look great on picture! hehehe! Anyway, here's the link to our prenup pics! Hope you enjoy looking at at them as we have enjoyed shooting them!  =)

MOH and Bridesmaids' Clutch... which one?

Since August, I've been experimenting on my DIY MOH and Bridesmaids' clutch bags.  I stitched the rectangular one first, and not being satisfied with that (cause I find it quite large for a lady's clutch) I stitched the curvy one.  I experimented with the clutches with ribbon, beads and the flower that I bought supposedly for the DIY Bridesmaids' Wrist Corsage. I am now getting confused as to what should I do with these clutches.  Although, now, I am leaning towards pinning the flower on the clutch so that it will double as a wrist corsage for my MOH and bridesmaids and thus no need for me to make a separate wrist corsage for them (which will save me a lot of time).  Hay... I hope you can help me on these clutches, or let me know if you have a better suggestion. =)

Clutch 1

Clutch 2
(sew in a ribbon that will serve as it's lock)

Clutch 3
(sew a ribbon as lock and pin the flower on the outside flap of the clutch)

Clutch 4
(curvy pouch with bead strap and flower on one side)

Clutch 5
(bead strap in bag-style and flower on one side)

My issue with Clutch 5 is that when I tried putting things inside it and carried it through the bead strap, it loses its form, and I don't have the time, energy and equipment anymore to put boning on each  clutch (since I'm sewing all of these by hand).

I am hoping to finish the clutches by the second week of December since my entourage's gowns will arrive on the first week. Good luck to me! hehe! =)

First Detailing with Caterer

Yesterday, I took a leave of absence from work to go to the office of Avengoza's Catering at Cainta for detailing.  Jeric could not go with me as he could not take a leave from his work that day.  Originally, I was supposed to have the detailing Wednesday last week, but got busy with work so I rescheduled it this week.  Going there, I was quite disappointed because when I called my AE Sharon last week to have my detailing rescheduled and asked her what day is she available, she told me I could meet her at their office on Tuesday this week, but when I called her around 11am yesterday to confirm with her that I'll be coming to their office after lunch, she told me that she has an ocular inspection after lunch.  I told her that I took my leave of absence that day because she told me last week that she could meet me that day.  Maybe she sensed that I am about to get irritated so said she'd still meet me around 4pm right after her ocular inspection, so I agreed.

When I arrived at their office at around 4:15pm, Sharon was still out but Mr. Avengoza was there, so I chatted with him while I waited for Sharon. She arrived about 15 minutes after I arrived at their office, so we immediately started on my detailing.  In fairness to Sharon, when we started talking about the details and my inquiries, she was able to explain and answer them all, even though she was not the original AE who handled our account when we booked them.  As we went on with our detailing, I have already forgotten my earlier disappointment on her.  During our conversation she had our records on-hand and intact with the notes of our previous AE, so I really did not have a hard time confirming and explaining to her the details and some changes that we wanted to make.  She also took note of my inquiries and the changes on some of the details.  After I have already asked everything on my list, I was already satisfied.  Although, we agreed to meet again on the last week of November for our final detailing, since I wanted to have our final food tasting and detailing with Jeric around.

My favorite part of this meeting with my AE is when she agreed to provide us with Suppliers' Meals and 2 tables for our suppliers, in exchange of the Emcee and Sound System Freebies that we're not availing from them since we already booked separate suppliers for that.  It was really a great deal, since we will be able to save on suppliers' meals because we need not book a separate supplier for that. yey!  That's another item crossed-out from our list.  I also appreciated it that she showed me the new cake designs that they have because apparently, they have a different cake supplier now, and the cake that we chose from the previous supplier will no longer be available.

All in all, I can say our meeting went well and I was very happy when I met with Jeric afterwards to report to him everything that I have discussed with Sharon.  Hopefully, our final detailing will be even better that this one. hehe! =)

Our Wedding Bands

Last Saturday, we finally got our wedding bands from Mayfair Jewelries. We're happy it turned out the way we wanted it to look like.  We just encountered a small problem in having it engraved with our names since Jeric's ring was so large, it did not fit on the engraving machine of Mayfair.  So Ms. Jackie of Mayfair was constrained to have it engraved somewhere else, thus the result, the engraving was quite shallow, and from a far the engravings cannot be read.  But then, Jeric liked it very much, so I have no complaints.  Other than that, we're satisfied with the turn-out of our rings... it was as simple as we wanted it to be.  Here are some of the pics of our rings...

Our PLM Prenup - A Dream Come True...

Last saturday, October 16, 2010, we finally had our prenup at PLM. The whole week prior to that was so toxic as it was submission of grades for my students and distrubution of classcards, plus my almost everyday hearing and several due pleadings.  I took a leave of absence from work the day before our prenup so I can collate and arrange the items we will need.  First stop was at PLM to reconfirm our appointment for prenup.  From PLM, I went to divi to pick-up my dress from Ms. Joan, and then went to Gardinis at Tayuman to pick-up the coat and vest that we rented for Jeric.  From there, I went to SM San Lazaro to buy Jeric a Hat, a bowtie and a couple of ties, and then I met Jeric at his house and we went to Robinsons Ermita to find a white coat that I want to wear for our prenup, but unfortunately didn't find any.  He dropped me home at around 9:30pm, but I just left my things at home and went out again for foot spa, manicure and pedicure at a nearby parlor. I left the parlor around 11:30 in the evening, and when I finally got home, there still remain a ton of things I needed to prepare for our prenup.  I slept at around 1:30am and woke up at 4:30am. I went to my make-up artist's parlor at 6am and our ride arrived at 7:00am when I was still at the parlor.  At first I worried that my lack of sleep the night before would show on my face even with make-up, good thing Brenda was really good and was already very familiar with my skin and face.  It was already 7:30am when I left the parlor with the 2 assistants that Brenda provided for me. When I finally left home, It was already 7:45, and with me was the 2 assistants and 2 of my friends who also wanted to take pictures at our prenup.  We fetched Mige and Cris of Flickerhappy at their office after that, then went to fetch Jeric at his house.  We were already running late when we arrived at PLM at around 8:30 am, so we wasted no time and immediately started with the shoot. At first, we were quite uncomfortable posing with a lot of persons looking at us, but since Mige and Cris were both easy to work with, and also with the presence of my friends there, Jeric and I got the hang of it after a while. hehe! After almost 4 hours of photo shoot and 3 outfit changes, we called it a rap and headed for lunch. The shoot was tiring but we really had a lot of fun! Good thing we still have another prenup, this time at the Studios of Flickerhappy! I'm already looking forward to that! hehe!

Here are our official prenup teasers! kuddos to the Flickerhappy team! Jeric and I cant wait to see the rest of the pics! hehe!

Preps Update

It's been a while since my last post. I got super busy with work, school and preps for the last month that I couldn't find the time to update this blog or even check with w@w.  Thankfully, it's already sem break for my students and I have already taken my leave of absence for the next sem... that means more time for preps... hopefully!  Here are the things we have accomplished for the past month...

October 1, 2010, we got our Marriage License and started working on our church requirements.  I also went to PLM that day to process our permit for using PLM's Campus for our prenuptial pictorial.

October 2, 2010, we went to Camp Suki to look for costumes we can use for our vintage theme prenup.  Unfortunately, we couldn't find a sensible vintage attire there and the rent was quite expensive.  From Camp Suki, we went to Mayfair Jewelry Shop in Ongpin to order our rings.  The lady who took our measurements had a hard time measuring Jeric's ring size because his finger was so big that it was even bigger than the largest measuring ring at Mayfair. They ended up measuring his ring circumference thru a ruler that has circle holes in it.  hehe!

October 3, 2010, we met with Jeff of Everlasting Flower Shop in Dangwa to book him for our wedding.  He was refered to us by Sis Ellen. (Thanks Sis!)  We have already asked quotations from him when we visited his shop sometime mid-september but we wanted to meet with him again because I want to make some modifications on the quotations he gave us.

October 6, 2010, I was able to sneak out of the office so I went to Century Park Hotel and Orchid Garden Suites to book our hotel accommodations for the wedding.

October 10, 2010, we went back to Mayfair to pick-up the rings.  They were able to make it in the style that we want, but unfortunately, Jeric’s ring is still a little small for his finger, so they took it back to resize it.  From Mayfair, we went to our church to fill-up and file the necessary forms for the request for marriage.  The form will have to be signed first by several church officials before they can finally schedule our wedding and schedule us for seminar.  Jeric took care of having our form signed by the different church officials for the past week, and as of now the only remaining signature is that of the Pastor of the Locale.

Again, here's the recap of our suppliers together with the new ones:

One Fine Day!

Jeric and I are so happy with the turn of event yesterday! We were able to accomplish everything that we have set out to do.  In the morning, after my hearing, we talked to one of the persons we going to ask to be our principal sponsor.  Our meeting with her was brief but so funny! Nawindang talaga kami ni Jeric sa hirit nya sa amin pagkatapos nya tanggapin yung invitation namin sa kanya na maging ninang. She even wants to know where our honeymoon will be, at sasabay daw sya ng byahe. haha!  Our meeting with her ended around 11:00am so we went to the 2nd person we intended to be our principal sponsor, but at that time, he was still busy attending to something so we decided to just return to his office after our marriage seminar.

After lunch, we applied for license and attended the marriage seminar at the Manila City Hall.  My hand hurt filling-up forms... eto kasing si Jeric mas pangit pa ang sulat kesa sa akin, super liit pa, baka pag sya ang mag-fill-up e katakot-takot ang mali sa marriage license namin at madamay pa marriage contract. hehe!  After filling out the forms and registering for the seminar on family planning, we went to the seminar room...  it was scary going there as it was located at the end of a hallway and we have to climb a creepy stairs to a mezzanine of that room... akala ko nga sa budega kami dadalhin.  The seminar was less than an hour long. It started with a film showing on the formation of fetus and birth of babies, then followed by a film on how abortion was done and what are its gruesome effects.  There were 7 other couples aside from us in the seminar, but i think we were the noisiest, because Jeric kept on making his funny side comments and of course I cannot help but laugh at his comments.  Baka nga iniisip nung nagpapa-seminar at mga kasama amin na di kami seryoso magpakasal. haha!   I was only able to watch half of the abortion film because aside from it being so gruesome, I had to use the bathroom. hehe!  There was also a small talk from the one conducting the seminar after the film showing, and it was also funny! Like when the woman gave us a ran down of the marital responsibilities... natawa talaga ako kasi pagdating sa "sexual responsibilities" sabi nya di na daw nya ipapaliwanag yun... di na daw nya ipapaliwanag kung anong posisyon... wahahaha! At one point, the woman also told us that some men wants to marry a midwife... "mid" sa umaga, "wife" sa gabi. hahaha! I really didn't expect that I will enjoy the seminar. I expected it to be so boring. After the seminar, we were required to submit our requirements (1. Original/Certified Copy of Birth Certificate of both; 2. Photocopy of ID of both; 3. Payment of Php120.00 application fee).  After submitting all our requirements, we took the oath, then that's it!  We will get our license on October 1.  Yey!

After applying for marriage license, we went back to the office of the person we were going to ask to be our principal sponsor.  He was already waiting for us at his office.  He was also able to guess our reason for visiting him. He too made us laugh with his reaction and remarks after we told him that we want him to be our ninong. Haha!

So, that's 3 items crossed-out from my september "to-do" list.  At the end of day, Jeric and I were so happy! We're even ecstatic! We were able to accomplish everything that we have set out to do on that day, and everything went well! Sana sa kasal namin ganito din! =)

Our Save-the-Date Card

Our Save-the-date card is finally out! I emailed it to friends and some relatives.  I did the layout myself and am so proud of it, considering that I learned to work with Photoshop just a month ago. hehe! But I do hope you like it! =)

I hope that does well to our preps. crunch time is fast  approaching and I do hope we can withstand it.

Divi and Coffeedate with my w@w sisters

Last Friday, September 10, 2010, was my longest day ever! It was a declared non-working holiday because of the end of Ramadan.  My day started with a divisoria trip with Fei, her fiance Stan, and Bing. I was quite happy with our divi trip. I was able to buy the rest of the materials for the DIYs I'm currently working on.  And thanks to Fei and Stan, I was also able to buy a mini version of a vintage trunk that I plan to use for our rings. From Divi, we went to Cash & Carry where Fei and Stan ordered their ribbons, then after that we went straight to Megamall to meet with Che, Apple and Beej.  We met at Crepes Atrium, and as usual, our meeting was full of wedding "chikahan".  Apple and Beej stressed us all when they showed us their mini notebooks with their wedding to-do-list.  Hence, after the "chikahan", Che, Fei, Bing and I found ourselves inside National Bookstore looking for a mini notebook for our own to-do-lists.  Beej, Fei and Bing left early, while Apple, Che and I stayed for dinner and more "chika".  We finally left Megamall at around 10pm.  When I got home, I continued working on my DIY bridesmaid clutch bag, which I started doing the night before.  I was able to finish the clutch bag before 12midnight, but since I was not yet sleepy at that time, I started writing my to-do-list on the new notebook I bought.  I just continued writing my "to-dos" until I realized it was already 5am! haha! It was only then that I finally felt sleepy and tired, and finally called it a night (or day? whatever...).  It was really a long day, but it was fun and rewarding.

Groomsmen Boutonnières

Last night, I sat down to do my DIYs.  I chose to start with the groomsmen boutonnières since it involves fewer things that need to be assembled.  I finished all of them, but realized that I dont have enough flowers for the fathers and Principal sponsors' boutonnières. Oh well, I'll just have to buy some more from divi this coming friday. hehe!

Flowers (bought from Moning Glory)

Leaves (also from Morning Glory)

It's my last birthday as a single lady

Today is my birthday! yey! An sms from a friend of mine early in the morning reminded me that this is my last single birthday, which I totally forgot since I was too busy with the preps.  But then, after realizing that, instead of feeling sad, I really felt happy and even more excited.  It's because I know that on my next birthday, I'll be Mrs. Margareth Reyes-Mendoza.  Gosh! I really like the sound of that! and I'm really looking forward to the day I become Mrs. Mendoza!

For the past 29 years, I've already enjoyed my life and lived it to the fullest. I cannot think right now of any regrets in life I may have or anything that I think I missed-out on.  That's because everything I did in my life, good or bad, made me into the person that I am right now.  And now, I am more excited than ever to settle and be married to the one person I truly, madly and deeply love... my Papa Bear!

To my Papa bear, I thank you for being there for me all these years.  I really thank you for your undying support for me from the beginning till now.  And most of all, I thank you for always loving me unconditionally, through thick and thin. I just want you to know that I will love you with all my heart till death do us part. =)

Earrings and Bracelets... Check!

For some reason my original post on this was erased... hay...

Anyway, since I can no longer recall what I have written before, I would just skip introductions and present you my DIY earrings and bracelets, which will be worn by my bridesmaids.

Measurements!

The past two weeks i've been busy with my work and my teaching schedule... hence, wedding preparations were a little bit slow...

Two saturdays ago, August 14, 2010, I went to my designer to have my measurements taken. Jeric accompanied me because Concha's house is quite far. However, with the help of a map that Concha sent me, we didn't have trouble finding her house. It was our first meeting after I confirmed to her through text only that I will be securing her service, so we did everything during that meeting... made modifications on the sketch she made for me, signed the contract, set the schedule of fittings, examined the materials she will use, paid the down-payment and had my measurements taken. I'm happy I had my measurement finally taken, at least now I can relax cause I know that my gown is being taken care of.

After our meeting with Concha, I was supposed to bring Jeric to Divisoria so he can see for himself the suits I was telling him about. I also plan to bring him to the factory outlet of Onesimus so we can canvass for suits. But while we where in the cab going to Trinoma to have lunch, we both decided, for convenience purposes, to just have his suit made by Onesimus although it is more expensive than the ones I saw in divisoria. We also agreed that the suits that our fathers will wear will likewise be bought from Onesimus. (Para iwas inconvenience na rin of bringing Jeric and our fathers to divisoria)

Last Saturday naman, August 21, 2010, my entourage measurements were taken by Ms. Joan of Kambal Bridal shop. My sister and here kids had their measurements taken at Robinson's Manila because they were in a hurry. Measurements of 3 of my Bridesmaids were taken at my house. Only 3 measurements are lacking, that of one of my friend who is outside the country right now, that of the groom's sister and that of the groom's mother.

During the measurement taking of my entourage, Ms. Joan also showed me one of the bridesmaid dresses that I requested her to finish ahead of the others. I then asked Ken, one of my bridesmaids who just had her measurement taken, to fit the dress and wear the accessories I made so I can see if it will match the dress. Fortunately, the accessories went well with the dress. I'm so happy! now all I have to do is finish the rest of the accessories!

With our measurements taken, I felt a little relieved. At least, we won't have to wear rags on our wedding day! hehe!

Here's the picture of my inspiration
for the Matron of honor and Bridesmaids Dresses

Here's my friend Ken wearing the sample dress made by Ms. Joan
together with the DIY Fascinator, earrings, bracelets and clutch bag
(clutch still looks unfinish because i havent finished working on it. hehe!
And the dress belongs to another bridesmaid
who is a little bigger than Ken. hehe!)

Entourage Hair-dresses... Check!

Last monday night, I was able to finish my DIY fascinators which will be worn by my bridesmaids and Matron of Honor. Friday night, I started making these hair-dresses for my flowers girls and didn't expect to finish it the same night.

I made a pair of this comb with small flowers for my eldest niece. I used the same comb I used for the fascinators but used smaller flowers.

For my 2 younger nieces, I made headbands adorned with small flowers. I really like the headbands and I think it will really look good on my nieces.

Now, may I present to you, my DIY hair-dresses for my entourage! I can't wait to see them wear these! =)

I'm already half-way thru with my entourage accessories! yey! The hair-dresses are already finished. I'm also already finished with half of the DIY bracelets and earrings. The last DIY that I need to do to complete their accessories is the clutch bag. Hopefully I can start on it next weekend. =)

Wedding Congress Asia 2010

Last July 31, 2010, Jeric and I went to the 2010 Wedding Congress Asia at the Megatrade Hall at SM Megamall. I was supposed to meet my fellow w@wies in the morning so we can man the W@W Booth which Ms. Benz has set-up for us. However, since I had to conduct a make-up class with my students in the morning, we were able to arrive at the congress after lunch. When we arrived at the congress, I asked Jeric to accompany me until my fellow w@wies arrive.

Before we went to the w@w booth, we asked for wedding band quotations from Matus, Goldenhills and Marry Me. Although the quotations we got were beyond the budget we have set for our rings, I was still very happy that Jeric was cooperating with me on this one. He gamely tried on rings and allowed his ring measurement be taken by the jeweler. He also gave me inputs and suggestion on how he want our wedding rings to look like. At least now, I know what he wants for our wedding ring.

At the congress, I was able to meet and chat with Sises Libz, Fei, Joan, Grace and Mel, aside from Sises Apple, Che and Tin who I've already met before. And after the congress closed, Apple, Che, Fei, Fei's friend Bing, Janice and myself, stayed at Starbucks to chat some more. We chatted and laughed as if there's no tomorrow. We shared a lot, and really had a great time. It was really nice hanging out with fellow w@wies. I am so glad I become one!
